Gretel Wathen

Gretel is a Senior Associate at Blackbird Law.

She brings four years of specialist experience in the construction sector working with owners, subcontractors, contractors, developers and principals across a wide range of projects.  

A snap-shot of Gretel’s experience is set out below:

• Assisting a tier two subcontractor on a Sydney infrastructure project to prepare for anarbitration involving variation and delay and disruption claims.
• Acting for an Owners Corporation in Supreme Court proceedings involving claims under the Design and Building Practitioner Act 2020 (NSW). Most recently, revising the pleadings toreflect the Court’s guidance from a motion hearing and to ensure consistency with the judgment in Pafburn
• Acting for a Sydney builder/developer in defect claims concerning two Class 2 apartment buildings, with a focus on achieving early resolution of the proceedings and narrowing the issues in dispute.
• Representing multiple subcontractor and contractors in their SOPA claims, both as applicantand respondent.
• Preparation of a direct supply agreement between an Australian developer/builder and its Chinese manufacturers.
