Jonathan is a dual-qualified lawyer, admitted in South Africa and New South Wales, with more than 10 years' experience across Australia, South Africa and Europe. He has worked in private practice and in-house roles, supporting national and international clients across property and construction portfolios.

This professional breadth has shaped a pragmatic approach to legal risk, grounded in how businesses stay profitable while delivering complex projects. Jonathan advises developers, principals, contractors and subcontractors on the preparation and negotiation of construction contracts, working closely with clients to achieve a risk allocation aligned with the needs of the project.‍

Experience

A snapshot of Jonathan's experience is set out below:

• Preparing and negotiating risk allocation in a railway extension design and construct contract for a tier 1 international contractor;
• Preparing national fit-out and modernisation contracts for a number of national property developers and asset managers;
• Successfully assisting a contractor to overturn a default judgment in the District Court for claims brought under the SOP Act; and
• Preparing downstream subcontractor agreements for commercial and residential contractors.
